Torre de Moncorvo, Castle remnants, aerial view

The remnants of the complex, some sections of wall at the height of Praça da República and the surrounding area, are classified as a Property of Public Interest by Decree published on 20 October 1955.

Located in a dominant position to the west of the medieval village, the castle had an irregular square plan, made of granite. Its weapons square was free from any buildings. A drawing dated 1815 allows us to recognize that the castle had two towers, one facing the interior and one facing the outside, with a low arch door to the east, allowing access to the enclosure.

The village was surrounded by an oval plant fence, in Gothic style, in schist stone, where three doors were torn:

Porta de São Bartolomeu, to the north, flanked by two circular towers;Porta de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Porta da Vila), flanked by two circular towers; and Castle Gate, to the south, defended by the castle itself.
