la gola della Scala di Santa Regina

Le gole della Scala di Santa Regina, che sono tra le più famose e selvagge dell’isola, attraversano il deserto di pietre che chiude il Niolo vicino a Corte. La strada, ricavata a tratti nelle pareti rocciose, domina le gole. Il paesaggio arido e tormentato ha un aspetto grandioso: la nuda roccia, erosa e levigata dai venti, è tutta frastagliata a guglie, nei cui anfratti spunta solo qualche ciuffo d’erba. Sotto il sole le gole sembrano quasi avvampare; nell’oscurità il paesaggio assume contorni inquietanti.
