This is the house of a Brazil nut farmer located in Tambopata which is in South eastern Peru. Brazil nuts are harvested and used for their oil which has a rich taste. The oil is also used as a lubricant in clocks, and for making artists' paints. You can also coat them with sugar and eat them. Brazil nuts are really popular in the Peruvian jungle and some of the native women can be found along the Tambopata river banks selling them to tourists and also in the markets in Puerto Maldonado. Brazil nut farming can be a dangerous job and some farmers get hurt when the Brazil nuts fall on their heads. You can see the hard hats that they use in the pano.
