Situated on the south coast of Java, directly south of Jakarta, is the beach resort of Palabuhan Ratu. Many houses have been built along the coast. The beach is stunning, with good surfing conditions, but the sea in the area and many parts of the south coast of Java are treacherous, with massive rip currents. There are no warning signs on the beach, but take local advice and do not go into the sea.
