Porto Calamie Narlikuyu Poimenios Bath And Uc Guzeller The Three Graces Mosaic Museum Silifke Vr Mersin 2ba
Turkey
Located 20 km to Silifke District and 5 km to Kızkalesi, Narlıkuyu was a gate to access the sea for those coming to Cennet and Cehennem (Heaven and Hell) Sinkholes for religious or tourism purposes during the Christianity Period. The place was given the name Porto Calamie in the Middle Age. The public bath was built here by benefitting from the fresh water source coming from the point where the underground waters of Cennet (Heaven) Sinkhole reach the sea. Only the water hole and the floor mosaic of the bathing part of the Roman Bath, the magnificent building of the antiquity that served to the merchants of the period, could survive to modern times. In the mosaics made on the floor of the Roman Bath, used by the citizens of Paperon city in the 4th century AD, the three beautiful daughters of Zeus -Aglaia, Thalia and Euphrosyne, were depicted dancing naked with doves and partridges. The three graces here, represents beauty, elegancy and joy.
