The Grand Canyon Lodge was built in 1927 out of native stone and timber. It stands at the very cliff edge near Bright Angel Point. Architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood also designed national park lodges in Zion, Bryce, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks, and the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite.
