Lovćen tunel entry
Montenegro

Lovćen National Park known for its natural, cultural and historical characteristics. Located at the junction of two climate zones, the Mediterranean and continental, which caused the development of a rich biota with many endemic species. Among the 1300 plant species, accounting for 1 / 3 of Montenegrin flora, many endemic, relict, medicinal, aromatic and honey. Area of the park is home to many animal species, with numerous endemic and relict forms. In addition to mammals (wolf, bear, boar, fox, deer, rabbit, hedgehog bjelogrudi, Montenegrin voles, etc..), Here are a number of other animal groups, some 200 bird species, 11 reptile species, 5 species of amphibians, 85 species of butterflies , 100 ant species, 45 species of flower flies, 10 species scolytidae et al. Cultural heritage features memorial monuments, churches, traditional architecture and old roads. On top of Jezersko (1657mnv) is the mausoleum of the Montenegrin ruler and poet P. P. Njegos II. Lovćenska serpentine portion of the old caravan route from Kotor to Njegusi. Many churches are simple architecture and traditional buildings (stone house with stables, threshing floors, suvomeđe, ublovi and bistijerne).


The National Park has been allocated five zones with a special regime of use and management:

     Whitebark pine forest reserve (foot peak and lake Stirovnik)
     Reserve beech forests and rare četinata sawmills (the space between the top of Laketown, Stirovnik, Trešteničkog top, and Babnjaka Golis)
     Beech forest reserve (equine)
     Reserve forest pine curve (the space between the holes and around the bog 1.100mnv)
     Herpetological Reserve (Lake Laketown below the top)
