Jishan Street is one of the representative old streets in Jiufen; it is also one of the busiest and most commercial streets in the region, despite it being a narrow winding street that is barely 3m wide. The name "Jishan" means "next to Keelung Mountain" - the street hugs the mountain from the Old Street Entry by the foot of Keelung Mountain, meandering across Daganling until it hits Qingbian Road. The street totals 850m in length and was known as the "Dark Street".
