Ding Canyon, San Rafael Swell, Utah, USA
Utah

Ding Canyon is a moderately short canyon at the edge of the San Rafael Swell near Goblin Valley State Park in Utah.  It is most often connected with Dang canyon for a combined 5-6 mile round trip hike, starting from below, going up Ding and descending Dang.  Hikers should be prepared for multiple 10-15 foot drops when descending Dang, requiring stemming or chimneying skills.  The hike is possible without climbing gear, though it's a good idea to plan for the main obstacle in Dang, a 30 foot dry fall.  Materials exist online describing how to get around the obstacle.  Be safe and never hike these canyons with storms in the forecast.  Check with park officials at the state park.
