This image was taken October 18, 2011 at the mouth of Cradle Canyon at the northern end of the Sawtooth National Wilderness Area, Custer County, Idaho, USA.  9,860 foot (3.005m) McGown Peak can be seen to the east.  The elevation at the image location is 8,185 feet (2,495m).

The hike to this location is a little more than 4 miles from the closest trailhead, which is the Stanley Lake Campground.  3.5 of the 4.1 miles is on a well maintained Forest Service trail.  Stanley Lake Trailhead is an 8 mile drive from Stanley, Idaho.  The town of Stanley would have been visable in this image had it not been beneith the morning fog.

The elevation rise from the trailhead is 1,660 feet (506m) but is fairly gradual so not a difficult hike.  The best time for visiting in summer weather is August through October.
