Sunrise Gili Trawangan. The coral reef around the three islands Trawangan, Meno and Air were partially destroyed by dynamite fishing. Fisherman no longer use this destructive technique. Dive centres on the island have come together and encouraged new coral growth by building biorock sites. These are metal structures which are linked to low voltage electricity, which causes rapid coral growth. The biorock sites can be found in shallow water, dotted around the island.
