Turkey
It is located in the city center of Mersin Province. Atatürk and his wife, Latife Hanım, stayed in this very house as the guests of Mersin for 11 days during their visit between 20 January and 2 February 1925. The building situated on the Atatürk Avenue, the focal point of the city, is also known as “Kristman Mansion” as it actually served as the official residence of the German Consul Mr. Christman. It was officially opened as Atatürk’s House and Museum on 12 October 1992. The ground floor of the Museum was organized as “Atatürk Museum with Photographs and Documents”. 22 personal belongings of Atatürk brought from Anıtkabir (Atatürk’s Mausoleum) are on display in this hall. Rooms upstairs, where ethnographic works are exhibited, are designed as regular living spaces. The Kuvay-i Milliye (National Forces of Independence War) corner, where various photographs are on display, is located in the entrance. The museum can be visited free of charge entire week during working hours. It is only closed on the first days of religious holidays till noon.
