ACROPOLIS OF ATHENS - PROPYLAEA
Athens

These are the Propylaea of the Acropolis of Athens at the entrance of the Acropolis. There, in front of you, extends the southern side of Athens. You can see there, on the right, the famous Hill of Pnyka ! You can also spot the buildings of the Sky Observatory of Athens. Finally at the background there is the sea and the island of Salamis, the site of one of the well known battles of ancient Greece against the Persians (the other one is this of Marathon), which saved and preserved the Western civilization, as we Know it to-day ..
