Velebit is amazing mountain that has great natural features of interest even outside its two national parks. Some of the most striking are in its central part around Baske Ostarije, a picturesque place located in a mountain pass beneath the imposing crest of Kiza, which can be reached via the old road. Baške Oštarije is an ideal starting point for hiking expeditions.
