Casa da Arquitectura was installed, until November 17, 2017, at Casa da Rua Roberto Ivens nº582, in Matosinhos. The house belonged to the family of Arq. Álvaro Siza Vieira and was acquired in 2007 by the Municipality of Matosinhos, in order to receive the CDAS - Centro de Documentação Álvaro Siza. By protocol between the Chamber of Matosinhos and the Casa da Arquitectura, the CDAS is integrated in the Casa da Arquitectura and, thus, begins a work of mutual collaboration and sharing of facilities. The works under the responsibility of Casa da Arquitectura started in January 2009 and ended on June 15th. This is the restructuring of a house built in the middle of the 19th century and remodeled in 1961, by architect Álvaro Siza at the request of his parents. It was intended that the restructuring of the house was, whenever possible, faithful to the 1961 project. Respecting the aesthetic intention of its author and always under his guidance, slight changes were made in order to make the space capable of receiving its new functions. It has functional spaces for the work team, library, exhibition room, reception for the visitor, a small shop and, also, a garden where several activities are planned.
