The old settlement at Lindis pass is now a Department of Conservation camping area. On passing through this area we decided to take the detour down the 5km track to spend the night down at the camping area. It was a cold winter night and we could not resist making a fire in the fireplace inside this hut. Surprisingly we managed to get the place warmed up a little, which was surprising as the doors seem to lack draft excluders. In the end we just didn’t want to go outside and put up the tent, so we decided just to put the tent up inside the hut.
